To The Householder:
Here at NZ Post, we’ve teamed up with Health New Zealand to bring you exciting news for your future postal deliveries – and your fitness!
You may have heard that we’re slowly moving towards delivering to ‘clusters’ of letterboxes. These letterboxes won’t be at the end of your drive, they’ll be at the end of your street.
Or maybe at the end of the street around the corner from the end of your street. Together, in a great big cluster.
It’s not something we wanted to do, but frankly (if you’ll excuse the obscure postal pun) ever since the interweb came along, finances here at NZ Post are tighter than a fish’s backside.
So sending a postie all the way down a long cul-de-sac to deliver two charity begging letters and a parking infringement notice just doesn’t make economic sense. Hence, clusters.
We had thought that a move to a cluster-based delivery service may come as a disappointment to our loyal NZ Post customers.
But after a chance chat with Health NZ chief Lester Levy at a mostly-deserted downtown Wellington cafe, we’ve realised it’s not a downgrade, but a feature!
On Doctor Levy’s advice, we’re now on a mission to embrace the cuts, and eliminate bloat.
That’s why we’re pleased to announce our new medium-term goal – to locate every Kiwis’ letterbox in a cluster at least one kilometre’s healthy walking distance from their house!
