Pearls clutched by finance minister Nicola Willis have been listed on online auction site TradeMe.
The pearls achieved national prominence this week when they were clutched as part of Ms Willis’s “people are saying the most frightful things about me” responses, in the wake of adverse public reaction to the government's pay equity reversal.
The listing describes the clutching-pearls as “dazzling” and “sure to draw the eye, especially away from other things like the fact you've just diverted billions of dollars away from women and into that hole into the Budget”.
”The perfect accessory for any story of woe”, the listing adds.
Ms Willis has previously received mixed reviews on TradeMe, with user FerryFan1955 noting “will not trade again - kept making promises, failed to deliver and eventually fobbed it off to someone else”.
There is currently one unanswered question on Ms Willis's clutching-pearls listing, with one auction-watcher inquiring whether she would swap them for the world's smallest violin.
