The Chief Designer at the House of Willis unveils the new Austerity collection

Hi fashion mavens! The new season’s styles have just dropped, the vibe is ‘austerity’, and the accessory du jour is belts, because everywhere belts need to be tightened and everyone needs to tighten their belts.

Yes, we’re all in this fashion moment together and there’s a belt to tighten for every look – from ‘just hanging on’ to ‘business as usual’. And as usual the House Of Willis (motto: ‘We Had One Job’) is setting the trend – let’s check out its range of belts to suit every pocket.

The Leather Strapper. This timeless classic is ideal for keeping that education spend tucked in tighter than a primary teacher’s budget for craft bits and pieces that they pay for out of their own salary. Put the squeeze on those school lunches by farming them out to a dodgy multinational. Charter schools: no need for you to feel constrained, make your own fashion choices and take our money, please.

The Tourniquet. Ideal for a public health system in need of a good few amputations. The tourniquet is so easily worn – simply keep tightening until bits fall off. Like, say, an immunisation programme for pregnant Māori and Pasifika and their babies in South Auckland.

Stretchy Trackpants. The House Of Willis knows that one size doesn’t fit all – and if you’re a landlord with six, seven or maybe eight properties then breathe easy. The elasticated band will expand with your portfolios and you won’t feel a thing!

Here comes that one-large-coffee-a-month paywall! But this is free to share, down to here…
