The final episode is yet to drop of Trump Trial 1 – Dodgy Days and Stormy Nights, the mini-series that has been gripping the US like a redneck’s rottweiler. But the reviews are in, and the critics are scathing.

BigScreener magazine eviscerated the plot, remarking that ‘the excruciating premise of Trump Trial 1 puts the ‘lewd’ in ‘ludicrous’’.

‘Think of the elevator pitch: A sleazy New York property mogul has an in-no-way erotic encounter with an adult film actress while his wife is pregnant. Ew. Years later – after a frankly unbelievable interlude in which we are supposed to believe this man was President, a courtroom drama ensues wherein he is what – wrongly framed for murder? Charged with mutiny on the high seas? Accused of ordering a code red?’

‘‘No, it’s paying off said adult film actress so the world will never learn of his fungus-shaped genitalia. And here’s the kicker – at the same time he’s running for another term in office!’

‘This is not an elevator pitch – it is an epitaph. In the name of all that is still good in Hollywood what kind of hallucinogen-addled pitch meeting did the producers of this monstrosity have the good fortune to stumble into?’
